Power Love and Self Discipline

Today the Bible Verse of the Day was...

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭

That really got me thinking...

This is one of my favourite verses because it reminds me that I have A spirit power, love and self-discipline that God gave to ME!!!! How encouraging is that????

As a mama, I struggle...
As a woman, I struggle...
As a wife, I struggle...

It is just a reality. I see what other people put forward as their best self, and I feel that I fall short.
I have one girlfriend who is a mama to two littles (2 and 3 years old) and her house is immaculate, she has a great body, she is a good cook, her kids are happy and she works outside of the home.
I have another girlfriend who just finished her university degree and has a successful home business and she also has 2 happy, healthy kids (4 and 5).
Yet another girlfriend who has two happy healthy little boys (1 and 4) plus takes at least 2 extra kids into her home and takes care of them... plus has her own personal business venture, works outside the home (almost full time) AND manages to go away, BY HERSELF, every once in a while.
Yet another one who has two happy, healthy kids (2 and 5), works a full time job, is gloriously slender, finds time to work out, keeps a clean house, and deals with crazy in laws...
Another who has 7 amazing kids (10, 9, 8, 7, 5, 4, and 3) and still has all her hair... plus she has a clean house, thrives on schedule, gets up early every morning and HOMESCHOOLS THEM ALL!
There are so many more women I could mention.... all who have qualities that I would like to live up to.

Not to mention, all these women have husbands who they love like crazy and who love them back just as much!!!!

But... they all have their own struggles that I don’t see.

I tend to focus on the things that I fall short on and not on the things that I do well. But that is the flaw that most women have. And social media doesn’t make it better... if anything, it makes it worse, because it only showcases the good for other people and not the real.

But this is where the words of Paul to Timothy come in.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity...”
FEAR - False evidence Appearing Real

I learned that from my mom! That is such a great acronym because it brings so much truth to what fear really means.

All of the women I mentioned earlier are just as amazing (if not more so) as what I described. But my FEAR is that I fall short.

We each have our areas where we struggle, and we each have our areas where we thrive. It is not our job to compare ourselves to each other. It is our job to come alongside each other, uphold each other, and love each other, in our flaws and our strengths so that we can help each other out through this crazy thing called life.

And remeber Paul’s words to Timothy, and God’s words to each of us...

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭
