Time of Turning

It is THAT time of year again.  The leaves start turning yellow, orange, and red, trees start dying, geese fly south for the winter.  You know... Autumn.

It is such a beautiful time of year, and it is the time of year where fun activities start up again.  It is a busy time, but it is also a time of cuddling up with blankies, hot beverages, and for me, some yarn and a hook.  However, it is also the time where I tend to stop moving and start sitting.  I need to change that trend.  I need to continue with my healthy lifestyle choices, and I need to be more active.

Wow... my thought process is all over the map.  Let me start with what my weekly schedule looks like, and we will go from there.

Sunday: 9:30am, Sunday School - I help a friend of mine teach the ages 3-5 class at our church.  It is fun and I am mostly just a helper, so I really enjoy it.  Jenni is in my class, and in January, Maria will be too.  Then we have our service at 10:30.  If I am on worship team (once a month) then I have to be at the church for 8:15am.  At 8:00pm we have a couples bible study starting up and Sean and I are both REALLY excited about that.
Monday: I am really thankful that I don't have anything starting up until the afternoon on Mondays so I have the morning to spend with just my kids and do some housework.  This monday, however, I am having some kids come at 8am because I am helping out some friends. 3:45-6:00pm I teach voice lessons out of my home.  You can check out my facebook page by searching Tiffany's Vocal Studio. I really enjoy teaching and I have a fair amount of students.  Then I have an hour off for supper and teach 4 more lessons from 7:00-9:00pm. Then, off to bed I go.
Tuesday: 7:30am wake up call for me because I have to get Jenni out the door for school by 8:15am if we walk and 8:30am if we drive.  Then at 9:15am I have my Bible Study at my home church.  It is awesome for me because I get to have some time with other women and learn about the Spirit of God... And it is awesome for Maria because she gets to go to child care with the BEMC ladies who absolutely adore her.  Then from 4:00-5:00pm I have 2 more lessons that I teach and so my BFF, Adrionne, picks Jenni up from school and brings her home.  Adrionne's son is in Jenni's class, so that works great. *I used to have two more lessons on Tuesday evening, but now they are on Monday evening so I have a bit more free time with Sean and the girls on Tuesday nights unless I get a few more students.*
Wednesday: 8:00am wake up time because I go to another bible study mom's group called MAPS.  We have to be out the door by 9:15am if we walk or 9:30am if we drive.  We usually get home from there around 12:00pm which is just in time for lunch.  Sometimes Jenni will have a little friend come home with her to play with for the afternoon, and then at 4:00pm Jenni has gymnastics.  We have been pretty good about walking to gymnastics so far because it isn't that far and it is still pretty nice out in the afternoons.  Jenni usually rides her bike and I will either pull Maria in the wagon or she rides her tricycle.  While Jenni is at gymnastics we will go to the library, or the grocery store, or my favorite, to my BFF Paige's house.  Then we go pick up Jenni and walk home in time to eat supper and then for 7:00pm I have a rehearsal for a production called Night On Broadway.  It is the fall fundraiser that the Three Hills Arts Academy puts on, and this year we are doing the theme "Music through the Decades".  I am pretty pumped about it.
Thursday: Another 7:30am wake up call.  Jenni has school again, and then Maria go over to Paige's house until just before 10:00am when Maria (and Paige's son) has gymnastics.  We walk over for this because it is just a short walk and it is a good excuse to get the kids tired out just in time for lunch and naps.  Then, at 3:00pm Maria and I walk to the school to pick up Jenni.  Sometimes we will stay and play at the playground and sometimes we will walk home right away, but pick up a friend for Jenni on the way home.  It works out really well for us.

After this point in the week we don't have any scheduled responsibilities again until Sunday morning when we start all over again, so we take advantage of the sleeping in on Friday and Saturday mornings.  We also make an effort to spend time as a family on those days, and while the weather is still not snow, we try to go out for walks and play at parks or go swimming or whatever...

So, that being said, it is hard for me to make the time to be active.  Yes, I do some walking on Wednesday and Thursday, but it is just so difficult for me to get out and do my big long walk.  Yes, I do little walks, but usually not for more than 20 minutes and getting that 45 minute - hour long walk in is very important for my weight loss goals.  So, for those of you who read this and can give me encouragement, please, please, please do.  I need all the encouragement that I can get.  I do NOT want to fall off the wagon and end up right back where I started, so I need as much help as I can get.

These past two weeks on my Tuesday morning Bible Study the verse 2 Timothy 1:7 has been brought up numerous times and it has really spoken to my heart as this is the journey that I am on.  A very good friend of mine told me that I should put a name to my journey because I want to look back on it as a time in my life that I can pinpoint with a name.  I have decided that I am going to call it my "2 Timothy 1:7 Journey".  In case you are wondering, here is what the verse says:

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (or fear), but a Spirit of Power, of Love, and of Self-Discipline"

I am beginning to see and realize that if I want this new idea to stick in my life, I need to get my power, not from myself, but from the Spirit of God.

Here's to my 2 Timothy 1:7 Journey!

  1. Wow! That is a lot of enriching activity for everyone.

A suggestion from me - walk while you visit. Suggest that your Bible study mom's groups read the verses, and then get out and walk to discuss them. It would be good for everyone's health! I also find that a group who walks together becomes tuned to each others' rhythms - breathing, pace, thoughts.
