August Long Weekend!

This weekend has been a very good weekend. I have been so happy with the way this weekend has gone. Let me start with Saturday...

Sean and I both got to have a decent sleep in because when we woke up we were hearing the joyful sounds of the girls playing together upstairs... So. Nice.

We then proceeded to start some work on the yard.  I even took before pictures, which were last weeks after pictures...

Last weekend Sean and I worked really hard to dig up most of the big flower bed in the middle of our yard and we did manage to clean up a little in the back quarter of our yard.  But this weekend our goal was to finish the job.  Finish cleaning up the wood and to move our fire pit to where we can all sit around it.  It took us 4.5 hours and lots of cuts and scrapes, but we managed to get done what we wanted to get done. The before pictures (above) line up with the after pictures (below).

I am so pleased at how it turned out.  There is still a bit more work to do back there, but for now it is good to go, and Sean and I can start on our basement reno.  UGH!  That is going to be a lot of work and a lot of before and after pictures (because that's how I roll... lol)

So, then Sunday we had a nice relaxing morning, and Sean sat down with the girls and gave them a bible lesson.  We wanted to let the girls sleep in and just have a family morning because it was finally a day where we didn't have any outside responsibilities.  Then we went over to Sean's parents place for lunch and the rest of the afternoon.  It was so much fun.  Sean's whole family was there... mom, dad, brothers, sister-in-law, niece and nephews.  We played games, and had a nice BBQ and then we went to the splash park.  Sean's dad brought his underwater camera and we got some really cool pictures... but alas, I don't have any copies of them... poo!  So, those will be for another time.  Regardless, we had a wonderful time with the whole family and just enjoyed a beautiful day.  AND... To top it all off... I managed to stay within my calorie goals, and walked to and from mom and dad's instead of driving.  It was AWESOME!!!! And, apparently on my way over to mom and dads I was walking at 4.5 miles per hour... that is rather quick... WHOO!!!

So, today we are getting back into the swing of routine, and enjoying one more full day as a family before Sean is getting back to work!  Whooo hoo for long weekends!

I am also realizing that I feel so much better about myself and about my life in general, now that I am making an effort to take control of my life, and not have my life control me.  I still have LOTS to learn, but I am enjoying myself so much and learning so much about myself.  I am excited to see where this path leads me, and to grow as a woman of God.
