Ok, so I did not get to writing a Christmas letter this year so I thought of writing a New Years letter. Then I thought of how I was going to write my letter. I thought of doing a printed out version, but we are out of ink and paper... Scratch that. Then I thought of doing an e-letter... BUT our computer doesn't have a proper word processor on it so that doesn't work, AND most of the pics from this year are on my phone. So the next thought was an email, but that option makes it difficult for everyone to see the pictures...
SO... Here is the idea I came up with.
A BLOG POST!!!!
If I email out the URL to this post then whoever wants to read it can and if they don't want to, they won't have a giant email plugging up their inbox. So, here we go.
2013 from the Dietz clan!!
Well, it has been a year for us that is for sure. A big completion (Sean's school), a sad farewell (sassafrass went to live on a farm) and lots of firsts too.
January was a pretty slow month for us. We just kind of muddled through with Maria being so little. Adjusting to two babies wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be, but it still did take us a while to get into our "new normal".
Thankfully, because of Aunty Brenda being here until just before Christmas made the first month of new baby a lot easier tog handle.
We kind of took the next few months in stride, going to different moms groups in the mornings and me having band practice on Monday nights.
Oh right, I forgot to mention that. Starting in January I started singing in a classic rock cover band. It was lots of fun and it gave me a bit of a musical outlet. Our first (and only) performance was in June, but I am getting there....
At the end of March Sean went back to school for his 4th and final year of his electrical apprenticeship which is a 12 week program. While he was in school we definitely struggled, but we made it through to the other side with minimal damage. Sean ended up finishing two weeks early and got 86% in his school mark, and also 86% on his Red Seal exam which has made him a full fledged electrical journeyman who can work all over the country (except Quebec). What a blessing and relief for him to be all done. He is still currently working for Byrne's Electric here in town and really enjoying it.
While Sean was attending school my mom and dad so lovingly flew the girls and me out to Campbell River.
We had such a great time. It was such a great break from the yuck we were experiencing in Three Hills.
The first night that we were there my dad took Jenni, Maria, and me out to the ocean to play and catch some crabs. It was so beautiful that evening and we all ha a great time, but I think that Jenni and my dad had the most fun.
While we were there the girls got to meet their great Grandpa Hill and spend some time with Oma, Grandpa and Gran. What a special time for all of us.
June brought my first performance with "Kick'n Around" (the band) on cruise day the annual car show. It was such a blast to be on stage and performing again.
With June also brought Jenni's 3rd birthday. We did a Dora the Explorer party and it ended with a treasure hunt with "the map" to get the goodie bags. Such a fun time for Jenni (and for me doing a successful birthday party)
With Sean being in school right before summer we decided to stay home this year and not really have any vacation. So instead we did some "stay-cation" things including the Calgary zoo, the corn maze, the drumheller hoodoo's and the westerner.
Sean's parents took the girls and me to The Westerner Fair in Red Deer (the equivolant to the Calgary Stampede only smaller and in Red Deer). It was so much fun. Jenni went on her first rides and she had a blast.
The summer had lots of local fun as we would bring the girls to the splash park here in town to go swimming and I started doing an insane exercise program 6 nights a week with my friend, Adrionne.
Starting in the fall we went back into the land of ladies groups and band practice, but on top of that I also had worship team practice, music makers, fitness friendzy (a free, local step class), and I started working back at the grocery store too. So unfortunately I had to give up something and the band was the first thing to go. Now I am balancing all the other activities a little precariously, but still managing. It got a little more crazy when Jenni was also in gymnastics and swimming lessons. Thankfully those are done for now.
Right before Halloween our whole family went to Lacombe to adventure through the corn maze with some friends. It was so much fun. It had lots of great things for the kids to do, so here is some picture overload.
Halloween was a fun one for us this year because Jenni was really into it. She loved going trick or treating and she we eve old enough to knock on the door herself as I stood at the end of the driveway.
Maria started crawling just shortly after Halloween. She was wanting to so badly, but would scream and scream if I put her on her hands and knees. So, I took her to the chiropractor and it turned out that her hips were seized out of joint. Within two treatments and 1 week she was crawling like a mad woman.
So that pretty much brings us the the present. Maria is still not walking but she sure is talking.
We are so excited to see what 2014 brings our way and pray many blessings on you and your family as well.
Plenty of love
Sean, Tiffany, Jenni and Maria.
